This workshop will be a hands-on study of our indigenous New England mammal skulls. Identification of animal skulls is a key component in the "toolkit" of a competent field naturalist. Utilizing our extensive skull collection, this workshop will provide you with the information you need for this fascinating branch of nature study. This knowledge will not only enable you to identify animals by differentiating between types of browse and de-barking in the field, but it will increase your understanding of animal behavior and adaptations as seen through the evolution of animal skulls over time. From tiny shrews to huge moose, herbivores, omnivores and carnivores, aquatic or terrestrial animals, skull study expands our understanding and appreciation of the web of life.
