Wetland Exploration

Sunday, June 6, 2021, 10am to 4:30pm

with Nick and Valerie Wisniewski

From the magic of swirling Ebony Jewelwings to the amusing antics of Otters, wetlands have provided us with many memorable experiences. This will be a day-long adventure exploring a little-visited wetland, learning about the diversity of life found there. We’ll examine the effects of beavers on their habitat, and see the signs of many other animals, including mammals, insects, and amphibians, that use these rich environments. The program will be held in the north Quabbin area, along an extensive waterway that we have been exploring for nearly fifty years.

Location: New Salem, Massachusetts

Activity Level: Moderately strenuous, a long day off-trail. Waterproof boots are recommended. Bring raingear, as the program will run rain-or-shine.

Fee: $50
