The Great North Woods - Wilderness Tracking

Saturday, March 28, 9:00am to 5:30am, and Sunday, March 29, 9:00am to 4:00pm

with Nick Wisniewski

This program will take place in the Connecticut Lakes region of Pittsburg, New Hampshire, on the Canadian border. This area, above the 45th parallel, is the southern edge of the Great North Woods, the coniferous forest belt that stretches from Labrador to Alaska. This is the boreal forest of legend, a vast land of spruce and fir trees, pristine lakes, and rushing mountain streams. It is wild and rugged, and holds some of the last remnants of true wilderness in the continental United States. Here, Moose and Black Bear grow to huge sizes, rare Pine Marten hunt the snowy landscape, and there are always rumors of wolves and mountain lions passing through. The forest is daunting, yet inviting at the same time. It is an unforgettable experience.
