Tracking Intensive

Saturday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 19, 2019, 9am to 4pm

with Nick Wisniewski

This program features four full days studying animal tracks and sign. Each day we will have the opportunity to track in a different location, giving participants the greatest possible exposure to a wide variety of animal sign in a different habitats, including lake shoreline, beaver pond edge, upland forest, wooded swamp, rocky ledges, riverine corridors, fields, abandoned roads, mature forest, and early successional growth. Successive days will allow participants time to process a day’s experiences and pursue questions that arise.

Location: Walnut Hill Tracking & Nature Center, Orange, Massachusetts

Each day will include a brief indoor session with digital presentations on subjects such as animal locomotion and track patterns. We also have a large collection of artifacts, including plaster casts, skulls, bones, fur, and actual preserved animal feet to help us in our quest for knowledge. Each day starts at 9 am and ends at 4 pm.

Activity Level: Outdoor sessions may require moderately strenuous exertion. This time of year may present a mixture of snow and mud, so be prepared to get muddy and wet.

Fee: $200/person
