Quabbin: The Meeting of Waters

Saturday, November 10, 2018, 10:00am - 4:30pm

with Nick Wisniewski

Today’s program will take us to less-travelled areas of the Quabbin to discover places of quiet beauty and serenity. Growing up in Belchertown when it was a sleepy ex-farming community, Nick has known Quabbin since the time he could ride a bicycle as a boy, and has been exploring this remarkable place for over 50 years. Today he will share some of the places unknown to most casual visitors. The forest has experienced remarkable changes as it has regenerated over the decades, and a very few places seem to evoke the spirit of the forest as the native Nipmuc people may have experienced it. There is spiritual power in the forest if we know where, and how, to look.

Location: Quabbin, near New Salem, Massachusetts

Activity Level: Moderately strenuous, mostly off-trail - bring a walking stick or hiking poles.

Fee: $50/person
